Benchmarking
Improper benchmarking is the most common error made while analyzing the performance of the mutual fund. The performance should be analyzed with a proper bench mark of the manager’s true style.
End Point Bias
This is the other mistake made in performance analysis. Most of the funds recommended would have recently performed well recently. The statistics report and performance above benchmark creates a view that the fund has performed well consistently. While analyzing the returns should be calculated for the past 1, 3 or 5 years to evaluate the mutual fund performance.
